How to Add Canon LBP6030 | LBP6040 | LBP6018L Laser Printers to Linux

When I searched the web, I saw few answers regarding this matter. But most of them did not work for me. So hear is a solution worked for me.

First you have to download the UFR driver for Linux following this link.

Then it will download file with extension .tar.gz . After downloading the file open terminal and use following command to go to the directory with downloaded file.

lets assume you download it to Downloads directory.

  • cd Downloads

  • After that type following command in terminal.

    • tar -zxvf  linux-UFRIILT-drv-v150-uken.tar.gz

    and

    • cd  linux-UFRIILT-drv-v150-uken

the last command runs the install script; watch the terminal as it may ask you various questions

    • ./install.sh

Then register the printer by Connecting printer and click Add button in  Printers filed of Settings.
    Then you are all set.

    Thank you.
