WHAT IS WIKI LOVES EARTH???

International photographic competition to promote natural sites around the World, through Wikimedia projects (mainly Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons). Goal of this competition is to encourage people to take pictures of those sites and to put them under a free licence to allow others to access them through the Internet.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Everybody can participate by taking pictures of recognized natural areas according to the lists and uploading them to Wikimedia Commons during the month of June 2019.

WHAT ARE THE RULES?

• You must be the original photographer, and upload the photo yourself.
• The site on the picture must be in the list of recognized natural areas of Sri Lanka.
• National parks
• Protected areas
• Wildlife sanctuaries
• You must accept to put your picture under the license CC-BY-SA 4.0 (details).
• The uploaded files must clearly state what it depicts. See Commons:Depicts.
• Photos uploaded should present the flora, fauna, or landscapes, in the above identified locations.

HOW TO UPLOAD YOUR PHOTO?

• Decide what you want to photograph
• You must first confirm that the area on the photograph is a recognized natural area of Sri Lanka.
• Take the photograph
• Adjust your camera to the highest resolution.
• Make sure to respect the rules of the park where you are.
• Remember what natural areas that you photographed.
• Upload your pictures
• First, you need to have a Wikimedia account.
• Second, use the link while you are logged in to upload your pictures
• Geo-coded images are always welcomed. 
• Clearly describe what the photograph portrays.
