Google Announces new Glass - Augmented Reality Eyewear

Google is challenging Microsoft's HoloLens with their new version of Glass, Augmented reality headset, which it’s now designating an official Google product instead of an experiment. This is mainly business focused and it will cost you $999 which is significantly less expensive than Microsoft's HoloLens 2 development edition ($3500). This is not yet available in the market for direct consumption.
Focus
Google and Microsoft have both eschewed the consumer market for augmented and virtual reality and instead are focusing on helping people work more efficiently in industries like Construction, Logistics and Manufacturing. The devices give workers the ability to project images of blueprints, manuals and other important documents on top of the real world so they can easily refer to them while working on complex projects.

Key Features
The basic Glass design hasn’t changed much. It’s still a relatively simple heads-up display, not a Microsoft HoloLens-style mixed reality headset. But it’s gotten a processing boost with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR1 chip, which is designed for augmented and virtual reality. Google says that with the XR1’s power, the new Glass headset can incorporate computer vision and advanced machine learning capabilities. Google has already released a consumer-focused computer vision tool called Lens, which offers features like sign translation and Restaurant recommendation.

Google’s new glasses, built on Android, will be easier than the first model for businesses to give to employees because they now support mobile device management, which is used to configure devices with apps and services, like phones and tablets

The look of this device closely resembles with the first generation Google Glass for businesses released two years ago.

First Google Glass Enterprise Edition

Google has currently unveiled that Glass is used in logistics, manufacturing and field services industries by firms including H.B Fuller, Sutter Health, Deutsche Post DHL Group and AGCO

Hopefully Google Glass will be extended for the use of certain other fields like Medicine.
